Five MT4 forex indicators: compare the job each one does
The best forex indicators for MT4 help answer the question you are actually asking. A Buy / Sell tool organises a chart-level setup. A currency meter helps compare the currencies behind the pair. A sentiment dashboard, signal scanner or level map adds a different view. Use the table to find the function that fills a gap in your forex routine.
This guide compares five VIP Algos products by their documented features. “Best” refers to fit for the stated task, rather than an independent ranking of all forex indicators or a comparison of trading returns. The shared images and videos illustrate product features; they are not all MT4 terminal captures, and phone images do not show native mobile installation.
| Indicator | Useful for | Key view |
|---|---|---|

Start with the part of the forex review you want to simplify
Already know which pair you want to inspect? Compare the signal and level tools first. Still deciding what to watch? Start with strength, sentiment or the scanner. You do not need all five. Familiar EMA, RSI and ATR readings also deserve a place in the comparison.
Smart Money AI Signals: see the forex setup around the label
Role: Signals with entry, stop and target referencesWant a forex chart that shows a Buy / Sell signal with its entry, stop and targets already visible? Smart Money AI Signals brings signal power, an entry reference, a visual Stop Loss area and TP1 / TP2 / TP3 target zones into one MT4 display. It is the chart-level signal option to compare when you prefer clearly labelled setups.

Get the surrounding levels in the same view
The useful feature is the relationship between the signal and its price references. You can see where the model places Entry, risk and three target areas without rebuilding that layout manually. Signal power adds another field to inspect alongside the actual forex candles.
Review the live quote when the alert arrives
A signal can reach you after price has moved away from the original entry area. Compare the latest bid and ask with the displayed levels before interpreting the setup. The indicator organises chart conditions; its name does not prove institutional orders, and it does not execute trades for you.
Illustrative forex example: A Buy alert appears on EUR/USD. When you inspect the chart, price is already close to the first target. The entry and target references make that change in location apparent, so the original label can be understood in the context of the latest quote.

Currency Strength Meter: compare the currencies behind the pair
Role: Strongest and weakest currency comparisonsBefore choosing between several forex charts, see how the eight major currencies compare in one strength dashboard. Currency Strength Meter analyses a 28-pair basket, ranks USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, CHF, CAD, AUD and NZD, and highlights a Pair To Watch. Its MT4 role is helping organise pair selection around relative strength.

Look beyond the direction of one chart
A currency pair contains two sides. The meter lets you compare each currency with the broader basket, then inspect the current pair’s relative-strength gap and direction. A strong-looking currency does not automatically make every pair containing it a bullish setup; the other side matters too.
Use Pair To Watch as a place to begin
The highlighted pair gives you a focused starting point for further chart analysis. Check the pair itself, the selected timeframe, current price and nearby levels. Strength scores and ranking are calculated model readings, rather than a verified probability that the next move will succeed.
Illustrative forex example: EUR and USD both sit towards the stronger end of the ranking, while another currency is weaker. That tells you something different from simply seeing a rising EUR/USD candle. Compare the two currencies in the actual pair before interpreting the meter’s directional reading.

Forex & Gold Sentiment: read the market-wide Buy / Sell picture
Role: Analytical Buy / Sell balances and market contextFor a wider view of the forex session, Forex Sentiment & Gold Sentiment compares analytical Buy / Sell balances across the major-currency market. Its 28-pair scan, currency mood, Market Mood and setup ranking help you review where the model sees bullish, bearish or balanced conditions. XAUUSD is also included, although the focus here is the forex dashboard.

Compare the balances across the watchlist
Buy / Sell percentages make the model’s directional readings easy to compare. Strongest Buy, Strongest Sell and Best Setup fields help organise what to inspect next. These are analytical sentiment values; they are not the percentage of retail traders holding positions or a broker order book.
Keep the current pair in the picture
A market-wide mood can differ from one pair’s reading. Check the selected sentiment timeframe and the chart you are viewing rather than applying a broad label to every currency pair. The dashboard supplies context that you can compare with the pair’s own price structure.
Illustrative forex example: Market Mood looks bullish while the pair you are viewing has a balanced Buy / Sell reading. The two fields describe different scopes. Reviewing both helps you avoid assuming that a broad market label applies equally to every chart.

AI Trading Signal Scanner: narrow the charts you need to open
Role: Watchlist comparisons across four timeframesIf you repeatedly switch pairs and chart periods, AI Trading Signal Scanner puts selected markets and four timeframe views into one MT4 dashboard. Buy / Sell / Wait states sit beside trend, strength, a Final Signal and setup ranking. It helps you start with a specific chart to investigate instead of checking the entire watchlist in the same way.

Read agreement and disagreement across periods
The separate timeframe cells make it possible to inspect what sits behind a combined signal. A pair with matching higher- and lower-period states presents a different model picture from one with Buy, Sell and Wait readings mixed together. The summary should be read with those individual fields.
Match the inputs to your MT4 broker
The selected symbols and their source-period history need to be available for a useful scan. Check prefixes or suffixes, load the required market data and review the MT4 input and alert settings. A Top Setup is a ranking within the model, rather than a promise about the next price move.
Illustrative forex example: EUR/USD shows mixed timeframe states, while USD/JPY is listed as the current Top Setup. The scan helps you decide which chart to inspect first. You still review the chosen pair’s actual candles, spread and nearby levels before drawing a conclusion.

AI Support & Resistance: see the levels around the signal
Role: Automatic support / resistance zonesEven a clear directional label needs a place on the chart. AI Support & Resistance automatically maps important zones and displays Buy / Sell alerts with target and Stop Loss reference areas. On MT4 forex charts, its role is making nearby structure easier to inspect while you review the signal and the space around it.

Replace repeated manual marking with a visible map
Support and resistance zones provide reference areas that can be reviewed each time you open the pair. You can inspect whether price is approaching a boundary, reacting near it or moving beyond it. Automatic marking helps keep those areas visible without redrawing every level by hand.
Follow the reaction as well as the level
A zone can hold, pause a move or be crossed. Read the current candle, available alerts and surrounding target / stop references rather than assuming that the presence of a level requires a bounce. The tool organises possible reaction areas; it does not guarantee where price will turn.
Illustrative forex example: GBP/USD has a bullish-looking signal while price is close to a resistance zone. The level map adds a location check to the direction reading, so you can see the nearby area of interest instead of considering the label on its own.

Which forex indicator should you explore first on MT4?
Start with the information you want each time you open the platform. These feature-based routes help you compare the relevant demonstration and access page without expecting every indicator to perform the same job.
Currency Strength Meter or Forex Sentiment?
Currency Strength Meter centres on relative strength: how the eight currencies rank, which side of the current pair is stronger and which pair the model highlights. Forex & Gold Sentiment centres on analytical Buy / Sell balances, currency mood, Market Mood and setup ranking. Choose the display that most directly answers your watchlist question.
Both use cross-market price information, so similar readings may share underlying inputs. If you add a second dashboard, identify what it contributes to your routine. A different presentation of related data should not automatically be counted as another independent reason for a trade.
EMA, RSI and ATR: useful built-in forex indicators for MT4
MetaTrader 4 already includes familiar tools for direction, momentum and volatility. They are useful reference points when comparing a premium forex indicator: understand the basic measurement first, then decide whether automatic levels, market scanning or a combined dashboard would make your chart work easier.
EMA · direction
The Exponential method in MT4’s Moving Average settings smooths price while giving more weight to recent observations.
It can provide a direction reference, but it lags price and can whipsaw in a range. MetaTrader 4 Moving Average guide ↗
RSI · momentum
Relative Strength Index measures recent upward and downward price changes on a scale from 0 to 100.
An extreme momentum reading can persist; it is not a requirement for an immediate reversal. MetaTrader 4 RSI guide ↗
ATR · volatility
Average True Range describes recent price-range volatility, helping you compare how much the pair has been moving.
ATR measures movement size rather than the direction of the next forex move. MetaTrader 4 ATR guide ↗
The practical reason to choose a premium MT4 forex tool is the extra job it performs. It might collect currencies into a ranking, compare timeframe states, mark zones automatically or display setup levels beside a label. Compare that function with the manual work you currently repeat.
Connect the signal, the two currencies and the chart location
A forex pair is a comparison between two currencies. That makes a currency ranking, a pair-level signal and a support zone different pieces of information. Read them in a consistent order so a clear-looking dashboard does not replace an understanding of what the chart actually quotes.
In EUR/USD, EUR is the base currency and USD is the quote currency. A rising quote means the euro is rising relative to the US dollar.
Compare the visible chart period with any separate strength, sentiment or scanner timeframe. Different intervals can legitimately show different readings.
Place the signal beside the latest quote and nearby levels. Notice whether price is near Entry, already near a target, or approaching a support / resistance area.

Notice when several signals share the same currency
Bullish-looking EUR/USD and GBP/USD charts can both reflect weakness in the shared USD side. That does not make the two readings independent. A currency dashboard helps you notice the common component, while the individual pair charts still need their own timeframe and location checks.
Check the broker’s symbols and history before a basket scan
A currency basket or market scanner needs the relevant MT4 symbols and price history. Broker names can include suffixes or prefixes, and some markets may be unavailable. Check the supplied symbol inputs, make the required pairs available and allow source charts to load. Inspect a missing-data or developing status before treating an incomplete panel as a market reading.

A practical MT4 forex indicator checklist
Use the indicator on your broker’s demo account and observe fresh bars with fixed settings. Record the market, period and time when a reading appears. Include failed scenarios and mixed readings in the review, rather than evaluating software only from its selected product illustrations.
Eight checks for your forex chart review
This checklist organises observations. Completing it does not establish that a trade is suitable or likely to succeed.
MT4 forex indicator FAQs
What are the best forex indicators for MT4?
The useful choice depends on the task. This VIP Algos guide compares Smart Money AI Signals for labelled setups, Currency Strength Meter for relative-strength analysis, Forex & Gold Sentiment for market balances, AI Trading Signal Scanner for timeframe comparisons and AI Support & Resistance for nearby levels. It is a comparison of our own products by function, rather than a performance ranking of the entire MT4 market.
Which MT4 Buy / Sell indicator should I compare first?
For a clear signal-and-level display, compare Smart Money AI Signals for MT4. It shows Buy / Sell labels, signal power, an entry reference, a Stop Loss area and three target zones. Review the demonstration and the product instructions to see whether the display suits your chart routine. A signal label is an analysis event, not an automatically executed order.
What is the difference between a currency strength meter and forex sentiment?
A currency meter ranks currencies relative to a basket and helps you compare the sides of a pair. This Forex & Gold Sentiment product turns analytical market data into Buy / Sell balances, currency mood and setup ranking. Both are calculated views of price behaviour. The sentiment percentages do not represent a broker’s client positioning.
Can I use these indicators on EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY?
The tools are described for supported forex markets, including major-currency pairs. Check the chosen product’s scope and your broker’s exact symbol names and price history. Basket tools require the relevant cross-market data as well as the chart you are currently viewing. Use the supplied MT4 inputs where symbol mapping is available.
Which timeframe is best for MT4 forex indicators?
There is no universal best period. M5 and M15 give shorter views, while H1 and H4 cover wider intervals. A dashboard may calculate on a separate source timeframe. Choose a supported combination you can review consistently, then compare fresh readings using fixed settings and the current broker spread.
Are these non-repainting MT4 forex indicators?
That needs to be checked for each indicator, input mode and data source. Open-candle readings can change as prices arrive; that alone does not establish whether closed-bar plots are revised. Read the supplied MT4 documentation and compare live observations with the same bars after they close. Selected screenshots cannot prove repainting behaviour.
Can I use a custom MT4 forex indicator on my phone?
Custom .ex4 indicators run in desktop MetaTrader 4, rather than inside the mobile app or web terminal. If the indicator supports push delivery, enable it and enter your mobile MetaQuotes ID under Tools → Options → Notifications on desktop. Test delivery and keep the terminal running and connected. Phone images in this guide are shared product illustrations.
How do I install the MT4 forex indicator and move its dashboard?
Choose MT4 Download in the supplied access area to obtain the .ex4 file. In desktop MT4, open File → Open Data Folder and copy it into MQL4 → Indicators. Right-click Indicators in Navigator, choose Refresh and add the tool to your chart. Follow the supplied Windows or Mac instructions for your installation. To change settings, open Charts → Indicators List, select the VIP Algos indicator, click Edit and open Inputs. Where available, Dashboard Position lets you move a panel, for example to Top Left or Bottom Right.
